I am so blown away by yesterday's Summer of Love show.
Green Machine from Hanford, Gutterfish, RatBastard, the Rudy Parris band, Sippy & Old Guzzler, Simona (*amazing*), Heavy Weather, the Double Doors.... They were rocking everyone out, covering a variety of classic rock artists at an inexpensive, yet fantastic & memorable day at Woodward Park. It was a 40th anniversary tribute to 1967's Summer of Love & a recreation, if you will, of the kind of events that many generations can only watch films about.
Then Barry McGuire & Terry Talbot took the stage & did a set from their "Trippin' The 60's" show. Fresno is so lucky to be home to McGuire, who is still an inspiration to us little neo-hippies.
The grand finale was (the real) Big Brother & The Holding Co, with Cathy Richardson doing an outstanding job as Janis Joplin.

The first band went on at noon, but the event lasted til well after 10pm-, with Cathy & Big Brother selling merchandise, doing meet & greet & signing autographs even after most vendors & attendees had gone home.
So...who else went?

Re: just...wow
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 1:29 PMWe were planning to go, and really wanted to, but we went on the Billion Dollar tour in Downtown and were so tired afterward that we kinda slept through the Summer of Love. But we will definitely be there next year. -
